INTRODUCTION TO MAKING BOWLS WITHOUT A WHEEL
All introduction courses take place on Sundays at 10am-3pm at my studios in Dudley Road, Hastings, East Sussex.
During the first session we create several ceramic bowls using press moulds and coiling techniques. If you have never made a bowl before, you will be pleasantly surprised at what you can create in just a few hours, and if you have worked with clay before you will pick up some new and exciting techniques.
At around 1pm we’ll take a lunch break. Lunch is usually a sea food pasta, quiche with a salad or home made falaffels with pita bread, followed by cake and coffee or tea. After lunch, we finish up what we created during the morning session.
We meet up again two weeks later to glaze the bowls; except for one which we smoke fire in the garden outside my studio after lunch. The reason the workshops are spaced two weeks apart is that the clay has to dry out completely before it can be bisque fired and glazed.

After lunch you will have a chance to try out smoke firing. The technique of smoke firing ceramics in a galvanised dustbin is something I have worked on for over 10 years and I believe this method is unique to me. It is amazingly easy to learn, though, and fun. The group will be small with max 6 people, so please sign up early to avoid disappointment.
This workshop spans two Sundays and cost £35 per day. This includes all materials, tuition and a lovely lunch, tea, coffee and cake. There is a deposit of £35.

MAKE A PLAQUE FOR THE GARDEN OR INDOORS;
We meet at 10am-3pm at my studios in Dudley Road in Hastings. During the first session we create several plaques for the garden or indoors which I will bisque fire ready for the second Sunday two weeks later when we will glaze the plaques; except for one which we smoke fire in the garden outside my studio after lunch.

I will bisque fire your sculptures ready for the second meeting two weeks later when we will glaze the sculptures; except for one which we smoke fire in the garden outside my studio after lunch.
